It is adjacent to the old town of Jintan, 17 km to the west of Jintan, and 17 km to the west of Tongji Town.

In March 2007, Jintan district made an administrative division adjustment, changing 15 towns into 7 towns, among which the former Zhixi town and Jianchang town were abolished and the new Zhixi town was merged.

In 1947, Jiannan and Jianbei townships were set up. In the following year, they were merged into Jianchang township. In 1949, they were divided into two townships. In 1957, they were merged into Jianchang township. In 1987, they were withdrawn to build towns. The town government is located in dizhuang market town. The total area of the town is 49 square kilometers, with 37557 mu of arable land and 9764 mu of water surface. There are 26 village committees, 137 natural villages, 1 aquaculture farm, 302 villager groups, with a total of 30303 people (1980s).
