Gaoqiao Town, located in the northwest of Xinning County, Hunan Province, is adjacent to qingjiangqiao Township in the East, Jinshi town in the south, Wugang City in the West and Anshan Township in the north.

Gaoqiao Town, with a land area of 156.72 square kilometers (2017), has a cultivated land area of 35066 mu, including 22398 mu of paddy field and 12668 mu of dry soil. It governs 18 villages, 288 villager groups, 1 neighborhood committee and 30197 people (2017).

In recent years, the Party committee and government of Gaoqiao Town adhere to the development idea of "prospering the town with tobacco, enriching the town with enterprises, invigorating the town with market and strengthening the town with projects", and the rural economy has developed rapidly. In 2017, our town sold 12500 tons of tobacco leaves, with an average price of 14.04 yuan / kg, a tax of 3.529 million yuan, a farmer's income of 22.6 million yuan, and the planting area and output ranked first in the city for eight consecutive years, ranking among the four major tobacco producing towns in the Province.

At the same time, we have vigorously developed the characteristic industries such as navel orange and live pig, established a 1000 mu navel orange demonstration base from Laodu to Yancun, with the navel orange planting area of 15700 mu in the town; developed 66000 live pigs, established Yuhe pig breeding professional cooperative, with 39 live pig farms; and cultivated 4000 mu of medicinal materials such as Banzi lotus, Lily and honeysuckle. In 2017, the town completed 580 million yuan of fixed assets investment and 4580 yuan of farmers' per capita net income, showing a gratifying situation of steady economic growth, comprehensive progress of social undertakings and substantial improvement of people's living standards.

Gaoqiao Town is rich in coal reserves, and the former social education coal mine is the largest in the county. It has sufficient power and water resources, medium-sized substations and waterworks with daily water supply of 1000 cubic meters. It has a comprehensive development of education, including 1 junior middle school, 6 primary schools and 7 kindergartens.
