Border town

Border towns belong to the old border district of Yingkou City, located in the northeast of Yingkou City, with a total area of 50 square kilometers and a total population of 18207 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages. The town government is located in Laobian village.

Historical evolution

Laobian commune was established in 1961. in 1983, it was transformed into a rural township. In 1996, it covers an area of 50 square kilometers and has a population of 28000. It has jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages, including Zhengjia, Sunjia, Yuyang, Wangjia, Zhaojia, Qianjin, Laobian, Shuanghe, Bojia, Shuangjingzi, Yujia, Yangtun, Qianshi, Houshi, Dongtai, Xitai, Sanjiazi and Jintun. In 2007, the administrative area of Sunjia village, a town in Laobian district with an area of 0.201 square kilometers, was put under the jurisdiction of Litun village, Jinqiao street, Dashiqiao City.

The town government is located in Laobian village, and the town middle school is located in Shuangjingzi village. Bian town has 18 village committees: Zheng family, Wang family, Zhao family, Qianjin, Laobian, Bojia, Shuangjing village, Qianshi, Houshi, Dongtai, Xitai, yangjiatun, Sanjiazi, Jintun, Shuanghe, Yujia, Yuyang and Sunjia.

Population composition

The total population of border towns is 18207 (2017), covering an area of 50 square kilometers, and the population composition is dominated by immigrants. Shuanghe village is a Korean village. In the 1980s and 1990s, border towns undertook resettlement from Chaoyang, Jinzhou, Jilin and other places in Liaoning Province. Therefore, the dialect of residents in border towns is mainly northeast Mandarin, which is different from the accent of residents in Yingkou City.
