Hongqi Manchu town originally belonged to the fourth and fifth districts of Shuangcheng county. In 1953, it was under the jurisdiction of Harbin City, and it was subordinate to Wanggang district. In March 1956, villages were divided into townships and equal townships were set up. In 1958, it was renamed equal people's commune, which is subordinate to Nangang District. In March 1963, it was under the jurisdiction of Binjiang District. At the beginning of the cultural revolution, it was renamed red flag commune. In August 1972, it was under the jurisdiction of Nangang District. In 1984, the government and society were separated and changed to Hongqi township. In April 1989, it was changed into a red banner Manchu Township. The Manchu population accounted for more than 30% of the total population of the township. In 2011, the township was set up.

economic development

The total area of the town is 60 square kilometers, with 45000 mu of arable land, mainly vegetables and food crops. Vegetable planting area accounts for about 60%, of which autumn vegetables account for 80%. The main animal husbandry is raising chickens and cows. In 1992, the total output value of township enterprises reached 45.1 million yuan.

The town has jurisdiction over 11 villages, including Hongqi, Xuguang, Mingxing, Jinxing, Xujia, Changzheng, Shuguang, Wuyi, Xincheng, Dongsheng and Nangou. In 1990, the total population of the township was 18200, including 6164 Manchu people, accounting for 33.8% of the total population. The town government is located in Hongqi village.
