The origin of the name

The original mountain in this area is called "Jinshan". A few decades ago, you can see the beautiful coastline of Xiamen Island by climbing on this mountain. This area has been developed into a large commercial and residential area, and Jinshan street also gets its name. In addition, "mountain" is also derived from "Heshan", continuing the traditional feelings of the masses towards Heshan. At the same time, Zhong yingcong, then Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jinshan street, once said that "Jinshan means people's prosperity and happiness".

Historical evolution

Frontline commune was established in 1958, renamed Heshan Township in 1984, and changed town in 1989. In 1997, it covers an area of 47.2 square kilometers and has a population of 41000. It has jurisdiction over 11 village committees including Gaodian, Malong, Jiangtou, Houpu, Houkeng, fanghu, xianhou, Zhongzhai, Gaolin and Wutong, and 2 neighborhood committees including Jiangtou and lvcuo.
