Xintan salt farm, founded in 1941, is located on the Yellow Sea in the northeast of Binhai County, Yancheng City. It is under the jurisdiction of Xintan economic development and Investment Co., Ltd., a municipal state-owned enterprise. With a total area of 78.5 square kilometers, the farm has 10 grass-roots units and 6 functional departments, including construction engineering, aquaculture, salt production, electric power, landscaping, water resources management, life services, social affairs, staff hospital. It is mainly engaged in sea salt production, freshwater aquaculture, landscaping and other industries.

Brief introduction of saltworks

In February 1941, in order to solve the problem of military supplies and food in Yanfu Anti Japanese base area, the New Fourth Army built shaiyanchi beach, which is called "Xintan". In May 1944, the first party branch in the history of Chinese salt industry was born in Yuhua Institute of xintanchang district. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, Xintan people's production of raw salt has increased year by year, known as the "Treasury of central China". He donated the "Huaibei Yanchang" aircraft to resist US aggression and aid Korea. In the process of socialist construction, Xintan people, with the mission of "contributing wealth to the country, creating benefits for the enterprise, and seeking happiness for the employees", have made brilliant achievements one after another through united struggle and continuous innovation. Xintan people have gone through more than 70 years in their career of relying on, eating and refining the sea. Xintan salt farm is a national medium-sized enterprise, covering an area of 78.5 square kilometers with a population of 5335 people (2010). The industrial structure is divided into two parts: silver and green. Silver is the leading industry of raw salt production, with a total area of more than 50000 Mu and an annual output of 100000 tons of salt. Green farming is a farming industry mainly focusing on planting and mariculture, covering an area of 50000 mu, with an annual output of 10000 tons of various aquatic products and an output value of 100 million. On March 16, 2012, four whales were stranded in the Yellow Sea in Binhai County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. Two of them were spraying water, and two of them had weak vital signs.
