Because the territory of natural hot springs - jade spring named. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, it was called hot spring. In the Republic of China, it was called Linquan village, belonging to the first district. In the 17th year of the Republic of China, it was renamed Linquan township. April 1950 belongs to the fourth district. In October 1958, Wenquan and tianzimiao Township merged and established Wenquan commune, with two management areas of Wenquan and tianzimiao. In March 1959, the hot spring commune was under the jurisdiction of the hot spring, tianzimiao and Dianzhong. By the end of 1962, the hot spring commune had jurisdiction over Dianzhong, Wenquan, Guanzhuang and houshancha brigades. In May 1964, Longquan commune had 5 production teams and 32 production teams, including Wenquan, Zhenquan, houshanyao, Guanzhuang and Dianzhong. In 1984, it was changed into a district office, which has jurisdiction over Wenquan Town and four townships of Guanzhuang, houshanliang, Dianzhong and Zhenquan.
In February 1988, the district was removed and the town was established. It has five offices, 27 village committees and 42 natural villages in Wenquan, Guanzhuang, houshanliang, Dianzhong and Yangjiao villages. In 1996, it covers an area of 108 square kilometers and has a population of 9000. It governs five administrative villages, namely Wenquan village, Guanzhuang village, Houshan village, Dianzhong village and Yangjiao village. In 2003, Wenquan Town covers an area of 109 square kilometers, with a total population of 12135, including 7932 non-agricultural population. In 2006, it covers an area of 109 square kilometers and has a population of 12100. It has jurisdiction over two communities of Wenquan and Yangjiao, and three administrative villages of Guanzhuang, houshanlang and Dianzhong. The town government is stationed in Wenquan. In April 2011, Wenquan Town was abolished and Wenquan street was established, which governs three administrative villages of Guanzhuang, houshanlang and Dianzhong, and two communities of Wenquan and Yangjiao.
