Mingjiang town

Mingjiang Town, formed by the merger of Shengwang Township and Mingjiang town in 2001, is located in the north of the east of Hongdong County, 10 kilometers away from the county. It is bounded by Gu County in the East, Zhaocheng town and dahuashu town in the west, Guangshengsi town in the south, Zhaocheng town and xingtangsi town in the north.

There are 42 administrative villages with 51938 people (2017). All of them are Han nationality. The town government is located in Zhongshe village. Terrain features: the town covers an area of 108.64 square kilometers, of which the area of hills and mountains is larger than that of Pingchuan. There are more than 50000 mu of cultivated land, and the dry land area accounts for more than 60%. Huoshan is located in the east of the town. The average altitude of several villages in the East is more than 500 meters. The central and northern parts of the town are hilly areas, while the southern and western parts are low and concave. Most of the villages are covered with wet saline alkali land, with complete range of mountains, hills and plains. The South Tongpu railway and Huohou first-class highway pass through from south to north.

Construction and development

The administrative area of the town is 108.64 square kilometers, with a total cultivated area of 4490 hectares. The main crops are wheat, corn, beans, potato, cotton and oil. Township enterprises, the main enterprises are repair factory, chicken factory, coal washery, brick factory. In terms of culture, education and health, there are 36 schools, 2 health centers and health centers in all villages. Shanjiao No.1 plant, No.2 plant and 300000 ton tar processing plant are all built in the town. Mingjiang town built the first rural hydropower station in China in 1955. Comrade Deng xiaoping visited the station in 1957. With convenient transportation and developed economy, the town is listed as an important part of Zhaocheng Industrial Park, the largest economic plate in the county.

Development trend

There are three imbalances in the economic development of the town: first, the development of Pingchuan is fast, while that of hilly areas is slow; second, the primary, secondary and tertiary industries go hand in hand, and the leading industries are not prominent; third, the state-owned economy is strong, and the private economy is weak. However, with the second and third phase project of Shanxi coking plant, new energy power plant, 220 kV substation and other large-scale key projects and enterprises settled in the town, Mingjiang town ushered in a new period of strategic opportunities, and the economy of the whole town is bound to develop vigorously.

In 2007, the GDP reached 250 million yuan, the total grain output reached 22500 Jin, the total output value of township enterprises reached 180 million yuan, the per capita income of farmers reached 3938 yuan, the family planning rate was above 95%, the natural growth rate of population was controlled below 5.5 ‰, and the birth rate was controlled below 13 ‰.
