Liberation is a war movie directed by Yuri ozerov and starred by Nicole Olin, Larissa golubgina, Boris zudenberg and Sergey Nikolay.

The film tells the story of the anti fascist national defense war, which started with the Soviet Red Army's counterattack (Kursk campaign) in 1943, then forced across the dne River, liberated Kiev, recovered Belarus (bagrazian campaign), liberated Poland, and finally conquered Berlin.

Synopsis

Liberation is a huge Soviet war epic, with a total of 5 episodes. The titles of each episode are: arc of gunfire, breakthrough, main attack direction, battle of Berlin and last strike. The time span of the film is from the summer of 1943 to May 1945: from the Soviet Red Army to the counter offensive, the battle of Kursk begins, then the Red Army crosses the Dnieper River, liberates Kiev, recovers Belarus, Eastern Europe, liberates Poland and other Eastern European countries, and finally conquers Berlin. Yuri bondalev, one of the screenwriters and writer of the film, thinks that the film "has some kind of chronicle based on data and real events. It describes historical figures and broad war background. From the soldier's trench to the headquarters of the headquarters, the film has many characters and a long time span.". Director Yuri ozerov emphasized that liberation is a political film. On the one hand, the film tries to show the irreconcilability of the white hot struggle between the two systems, and highlights the great historical mission of the Soviet Red Army - to liberate the people from fascist slavery; on the other hand, although the main content is about liberation and victory, a thought-provoking line appears on the screen at the end of the film: "what did the second world war bring us ？” Then there are the death toll of the participating countries in the war, including the Soviet Union, Poland, Yugoslavia, Britain, the United States, and Germany This makes the political thinking of the film rise to the height of Philosophy - war is always a tragedy for all mankind.
