Dazhang town

Dazhang town is subordinate to Zhangdian District, Zibo City, Shandong Province. It is located in the northwest of Zhangdian District, close to the seat of Zibo Municipal Party committee and municipal government, with 53000 people. Before 1988, it had a total area of 22.4 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 13 villagers' committees (12 natural villages).

In June 1994, Liudong, Liuxi (a natural village), Xiaozhuang and Yanqiao village committees were put under the jurisdiction of Shiqiao Town, Zibo Development Zone. Dazhang township (changed from township to town in January 1995) still has nine natural villages, with a total area of 16.46 square kilometers. In 1988, the township government set up two committees and two offices, with 110 cadres and workers. In 1994, the number of administrative organs in the town was reduced from 21 to 6, that is, five committees and one office, and the number of staff was reduced from 110 to 56, with a reduction rate of 42%. At the same time, the post responsibility system and performance appraisal system have been improved, and the civil service system has been implemented. A total of 29 people in the town have been transferred to national public servants. In 1997, the township government set up five committees and one office, namely, the agricultural committee, the economic committee, the Construction Committee, the education, science, Culture Committee, the Social Affairs Committee, and the party and government office, with a total of 70 staff members (including 16 non staff members). The terrain of Dazhang town is flat and fertile. Its superior geographical position and rich land resources provide good natural conditions for the development of industry and agriculture. In 1997, the gross national product of the whole town reached 201.56 million yuan, 9 times higher than that in 1988. The total output value of agriculture and industry reached 31.98 million yuan and 111.6 million yuan respectively, an increase of 487.9% and 508.7% over 1988. The living standard of the people has been greatly improved. In 1997, the per capita net income of the whole town reached 2603 yuan, and the per capita deposit was 5476 yuan. The vast majority of the villagers reached the standard of well-off society. The per capita housing area of the town reached 45 square meters, and the social security system gradually completed. By the end of 1997, the town's rural endowment insurance fund was 450000 yuan.
