Hushan town

Hushan town is located in the south of Yongchun County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It is the South Gate of Yongchun, connecting Dongping town of Yongchun in the East, Shishan town of Nan'an in the southeast, Xianjia town and Dapu town of Yongchun in the west, shigu town of Yongchun in the northwest and urban area in the north.

Hushan town covers an area of 54.3 square kilometers, surrounded by mountains, beautiful scenery and pleasant scenery. It is divided into 1 community, 10 administrative villages and 119 villager groups.

In September 1991, with the approval of the provincial people's government, Hushan town was listed as a key industrial satellite town. In 1996, it was named as a provincial health town after the acceptance of the Provincial Health Association. In 1997, it was designated as a demonstration town of combining agriculture, science and education by the Province. Hushan is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Yongchun.

In 2017, the administrative area was 5400 hectares, with a permanent population of 22476.

In January 2019, Hushan town was selected as the seventh batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China.

Hushan is also a famous fruit town. At present, there are 23000 mu of famous and high-quality fruits such as citrus, litchi, longan, miyou, loquat, American Brown plum and Thai mango, with an annual total output of 13500 tons. Among them, Yongchun tangerine and Hushan Wuye litchi are famous fruits in China, which are well-known at home and abroad.

Black leaf litchi

Hushan black leaf litchi, a famous product, has been planted for hundreds of years. It has thin skin and small core (95% of which are burnt core), thick and juicy meat, sweet taste, smooth and delicious. It is not only famous in Southern Fujian, but also overseas.

When Chen Guofeng was studying in Hushan, he once praised it as "the best gift given to Hushan people by wonderful nature". When Cai Xiang, a great statesman and calligrapher of Song Dynasty, was appointed as the governor of Quanzhou, he went to the "holy spring" of Leshan, the first famous mountain in Yongchun, to pray for rain for the people. During the summer season, Yongchun villagers picked a bunch of red and gorgeous Hushan litchi for him to taste.

Cai Taishou, who grew up in Xinghua Prefecture, Li Township, tasted Hushan litchi, and found that it tasted better than Xinghua litchi, and the seed was smaller than peanuts. He also saw that the canopy of Hushan litchi was bigger and more green than the famous Xinghua variety "zhuangyuanhong". He clapped his hands and praised it repeatedly.

Later, Tsai Tai Shou listed Hushan litchi as a famous species in his monograph "litchi spectrum". Over the past decade, Hushan litchi has made great progress. There are 20000 litchi trees in the town, with the highest annual output of more than 200 tons.

Township Enterprises

Hushan township enterprises are developing rapidly. There are 69 rural collective, individual and foreign-funded industrial enterprises, forming six pillar industries, including coal, electric power, ceramic technology, architectural decoration, knitting and garment making, and carton packaging. In 1999, the total value of township enterprises was 271 million yuan.
