Chengdong Street

Chengdong street of Wuling District People's government is located in the east of Changde City. East to Dongjiao, Dongjiang Township, West to Shahe, Sanlu port. Yuanjiang River in the South and marriage bridge in the north, covering a total area of 7.9 square kilometers, governs 10 community residents committees, including guniugang, Qingfeng, Nansha, banbian street, Hongwei, Xindong street, Hongmiao, Yanguan, Zhuyuan and Dongyuan, with a population of 66441 (2010).

Chengdong street is the east gate of Changde City. The transportation is convenient. Shichang Railway passes by the east side, and national highways 319 and 207 meet to enter the east of the city. Yingbin Avenue, Yuan'an East Road, Renmin East Road and Jianshe east road run through the city. Yuanjiang River faces the South and flows down the river. Yanguan wharf has always been the gateway for ships to enter the East and leave the West. The passenger and cargo shipping Wharf under construction will bring greater business opportunities and prosperity to the east of the city. There are 37 municipal and district administrative units, 51 enterprises, institutions and schools in Chengdong street, which has always been the residence of the CPC Changde Municipal Committee. There are Zhiyuan Hotel inscribed by former President Jiang Zemin; Yumin rice factory (now a rice company) built in 1950; Changde first people's hospital with large scale and best technology; and Ganlu Temple vegetable wholesale market, the largest specialized vegetable wholesale market in the city. Chengdong street is a multi-ethnic settlement. There are 11 ethnic minorities in the area, among which the Hui nationality has the largest population, accounting for 4.7% of the total population in the east of the city. The 600 year old mosque has been rebuilt and renovated. There are two black painted gold plaques in the temple, which were rebuilt in Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty in the 11th year.
