Fengcheng town

Fengcheng town is located in Lianjiang county, Fuzhou City, on the north bank plain of the lower reaches of Aojiang River, in the south of the middle part of Lianjiang county, bordering on Aojiang town. Wenmatun is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Lianjiang county. It has jurisdiction over 9 communities (southeast street; Northeast street; Southwest Street; Northwest street; Fengyuan; Baifeng; Liyushan; Beimen; Wenbi) and 4 administrative villages (Lvjun; Yushan; Fengwei; Beiyue). Famous historical figures include Chen Di, Liang Zhen, Yang Qiyong, etc.

Evolution of organizational system

Fengcheng town was moved from Fusha (now Baisha village, Aojiang town) in 742, the first year of Tianbao in Tang Dynasty. In Song Dynasty, the urban area and its neighboring villages were combined into Ningshan township.

In the third year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1524), four gates were built to prevent Japanese invasion.

In 1541, the battlements of the city wall were gradually improved. The city is also called Fengcheng because it looks like a spreading Phoenix.

In the late Qing Dynasty, there were 13 shops in the city and its affiliated cities.

It was the first district in the early Republic of China.

In 1935, Baojia was designated as Aojiang Lianbao.

After 29 years of the Republic of China, Aojiang town was under the jurisdiction of the first district. At the beginning of the founding of new China, it was the first district.

In April 1952, the fourth street of Chengguan District was divided into Chengguan District and the Tenth District was changed.

In September 1955, it was Chengguan town directly under the county government.

It was incorporated into Aojiang people's commune in September 1958.

In June 1961, Chengguan commune was founded from Aojiang commune.

In July 1963, the town system was restored and the community and town were integrated.

In August 1980, the people's commune was abolished and the town system was retained.

It was renamed Fengcheng town in March 1982.

In 1995, it had jurisdiction over 5 residents' committees and 2 villagers' committees, with 30 residents' groups and 12 villagers' groups, totaling 8755 households and 32933 people, distributed in 4 natural villages.
