Gaozhai Town, belonging to Huzhu Tu Autonomous County, Haidong City, Qinghai Province, is located in the southeast suburb of Huzhu county. It is adjacent to hongyazigou Township in the East, Ping'an County in the south, Xining County in the West and halazhigou Township in the north. It is 40 kilometers away from the county seat, with a total area of 73.66 square kilometers.

In 1954, gaosai Hui Autonomous Region was established; in 2001, Gaozhai township was changed into Gaozhai town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in Gao Zhai was 17144. In 2019, Gaozhai town governs one community and eight administrative villages.

Gaozhai town's economy is mainly agriculture, with wheat, potato, rape and other crops; its industry is mainly hydropower and processing industry.

History of construction

In 1954, the gaosai Hui Autonomous Region was established.

In 1956, it was transferred to Xining city.

In 1958, it was renamed Oriental commune.

In 1962, it returned to Huzhu county.

In 1983, Dongfang commune was renamed Gaozhai Hui Township.

In 2001, Gaozhai township was changed into Gaozhai town.

History and culture

Gaozhai town is located on the North Bank of Huangshui River. In the Ming Dynasty, a garrison fort was built there, so it is named "Gaozhai".
