Tianqiao town belongs to Shanyang County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the southeast of Shanyang County, adjacent to WangYan town in the East, Yanping town in the west, Xizhaochuan town in the South and Yinhua town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 16.1 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 15.3 km, with a total area of 143.3 square kilometers.

As of October 2014, Tianqiao town has three administrative villages. In 2011, the total population of Tianqiao town was 7237, and the industrial profit tax was 10 million yuan.

Historical evolution

In ancient times, people set up trees to cross the valley between the two mountains. Looking up from the bottom of the mountain, the bridge is like a bridge in the sky, so it is called overpass.

In 1946, Tianqiao township was established.

In February 1950, it was changed to Daping township.

In February 1956, it was renamed Tianqiao township.

In November 1958, it was changed into a production management area, belonging to Zhaochuan (satellite) commune.

In 1961, it was renamed Tianqiao commune.

In 1984, the township was restored.

In 2001, shuicaoping township was incorporated.
