Hongqi Town

Hongqi Town, belonging to Jinwan District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, is located in the east of Jinwan District, on the coast of the South China Sea between jitimen and niwanmen at the mouth of the Pearl River. It is connected with Zhuhai City in the East, across the sea from Macao, Zhuhai port in the West, and Daxi waterway in the south. The waterway is 11 nautical miles away from Macao and 45 nautical miles away from Hong Kong. The total area is 123 square kilometers. Hongqi Town, one of 268 central towns approved by Guangdong Province, is an important part of the main urban area of Jinwan District. In late 2018, the population of Hongqi Town registered residence was 49050. As of June 2020, Hongqi Town has a total of 8 communities and 5 administrative villages.

In 1925, Xiangshan County was renamed Zhongshan County, and Pingsha was still under the jurisdiction of Zhongshan County. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, Hongqi Town belonged to Chaoju township of Xiangshan County, Guangzhou. In 1999, Hongqi Town was established. In October 2019, Hongqi Town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019". In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association confirmed Hongqi Town as the National Health Township in 2019.

In 2018, there were 310 industrial enterprises in Hongqi Town, including 178 Industrial Enterprises above designated size.

Historical evolution

In 1925, Xiangshan County was renamed Zhongshan County, and Pingsha was still under the jurisdiction of Zhongshan County.
