Hengqiao Township

Old town name. See hengqiao town for details. The original hengqiao township is located 5 kilometers south of Xinjiang county, bordering Xuedian town of Wenxi with the top line of Emei in the south, yangwang town and Wan'an town in the west, Goujian town in the north, Gujiao town and Chengguan town in the north, and Houma City in the East. It has a land area of 103.36 square kilometers, a cultivated land area of 75393 mu, a total wheat production of 6383 tons and a total autumn grain production of 10139 tons. It governs 49 administrative villages and has a permanent resident population of 48556 (2017).

Within the territory, Houxi railway enters Xinjiang county from hengqiao Township from east to west. The county road, xinbeigong, passes through the county seat, turns to hengqiao via nanguanxi, and passes through zhibeizhuang to yangwang town. There are also five township roads and more than ten village roads, forming a convenient transportation network of hengqiao Township.

Evolution of organizational system

Dongfanghong commune was established in 1958, and hengqiao commune was changed in 1961.
