brief introduction

Qiaotou district is located in the northwest of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It is adjacent to Gangshan District in the north, Ziguan District in the west, Dazhu district and Yanchao District in the East, and Nanzi District in the south. the area is flat with Houjin River, Dianbao River and Zhongqi river flowing through, and the climate belongs to tropical monsoon climate. Kaohsiung new town is planned to be located in this district. With a total area of 25.9379 square kilometers and a population of more than 36000, it is the only way for Kaohsiung City to enter the Gangshan area. It is also the midway station between Kaohsiung and Tainan. The north-south highway and railway run through it. The transportation is convenient. As far as the Japanese occupation time was concerned, a modern Qiaotou sugar company had been set up here. The special sugar culture is unique The best representative of community culture in this district. It was officially established as a township on June 1, 1947. On December 25, 2010, it was changed to district.

history

"Qiaotou" was first called "Xiaodianzi", because there were two or three small shops by a bridge to supply the goods needed by the travelling merchants. Later, in order to draw water from Nakazaki to irrigate the paddy fields in Shilong, a large ditch was dug at the junction of today's Qiaotou village and Qiaonan village, and a bridge was built, which is called "qiaozaitou".
