Taiping town is located in the southwest of Shuifu City, 43 kilometers away from Shuifu City, connecting Suijiang County in the west, Xiangjiaba town in the northeast, Liangwan Township in the East, and Yanjin County in the south. Taiping town is high in the southwest and low in the northeast, gradually increasing from the lowest altitude of 380 meters in the northeast to the southwest, and the highest altitude of Jiaoding mountain is 1986.4 meters. The northeast and central part of the region are deep hills in the second half of the mountain, and the southwest part is mountainous area, which belongs to subtropical monsoon climate. The annual rainfall is about 1150 mm, and the annual average temperature is 15.58 ℃. At the end of 2006, there were 4606 households with a total population of 17042, including 655 non-agricultural households and 1167 ethnic minorities.
