Jiatang Township
Jiatang township is located in the middle of Haiyuan County, covering an area of 301.23 square kilometers. The township government is 25 kilometers away from the county. It has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages and 87 natural villages, with a total population of 23418 (2017). The natural landforms in the countryside are mainly Intermountain basins, Liangmao mountains and small valley terraces. The average annual rainfall is 300-400mm, the temperature is 7.1 ℃, and the frost free period is 145-165 days. There is little rain in summer, and the drought time is long.

Historical evolution
Jiatang township was established in 1949, the commune was changed in 1958, and the township was restored in 1984. In 1997, it covers an area of 150 square kilometers and has a population of 16000. It governs six administrative villages, namely Jiatang, Wangtang, houtang, Maying, Huangping and Nanhe. In 2003, Jiatang Township and Shuanghe Township were merged to form a new Jiatang Township, which covers an area of 404 square kilometers and governs 11 administrative villages. In 2006, Jiatang Township had 11 village committees: Nanwan village, Jiatang village, houtang village, Huangping village, Wangtang village, Maying village, Hechuan village, Shuanghe village, QianChuan village, Badou village and Baotai village. QianChuan village belongs to Shidian Township, Badou village belongs to Guanqiao township.
agricultural development
Crops include wheat, millet, buckwheat, flax, pea and lentils. The characteristic plants are onion, garlic, potato, fennel, etc. Maying red garlic is a local specialty, well-known far and near. The cultivated land area of the township is 330000 mu, including 3572 mu of irrigated land. There are 13 auxiliary motor wells in the township, including 2 small reservoirs in Nanchuan and zhengwan, 2 brick factories in Maying, and 7381 pits for production and living. There are 1127 farm transporters, 68 trucks, 8160 livestock (including 6970 cattle), 47000 sheep and 1200 pigs in the township. The annual output value of crops can reach 20 million yuan. Transportation
Heihai road and Haili road cross the border. Every village has roads, electricity and telephone. With advantageous geographical location and convenient transportation, there is a market, which has become a trade center of surrounding villages and towns. The trade day lasts for a long time, with a passenger flow of about 12000 and a transaction value of about 200000 yuan.

There are 2 junior middle schools and 13 township primary schools, with 3938 students and 144 full-time teachers. The enrollment rate of school-age children is 97.8%. Township health centers, police stations, posts and telecommunications, credit cooperatives, forestry and animal husbandry centers, agricultural technology service centers, family planning stations and other grass-roots organizations are sound, and their service functions are perfect.
