Jintan Township, belonging to Haiyan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is located in the east of Haiyan County, adjacent to Huangzhong County in the East, Huangyuan County in the south, Sanjiao Town in the west, yongfengtan in the north, 13 kilometers away from the county and 80 kilometers away from Xining. The area is 206.99 square kilometers. In 2018, 7352 people registered residence.
In 1949, it belonged to chequan township. In 1953, it was under the jurisdiction of Haidong district. In 1958, it belonged to Haibin commune. In 1961, Jintan commune was established. In 1966, it was changed into Taiwan commune. In 1978, it was renamed Jintan commune. In 1983, it was changed to Jintan township. As of October 2019, Jintan rural area has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages.
In 2018, there was one industrial enterprise in Jintan Township, with 36 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
