In May 1984, it was changed to dongyuedian township. In May of the same year, the central village and community under the jurisdiction of dongyuedian Township were set up as yuanjiazhuang town.

In April 2001, yuanjiazhuang town and dongyuedian Township were merged to establish yuanjiazhuang town.
