Gaize County governs township. Located in the southwest end of the county, adjacent to Geji county and Zhongba county. The permanent resident population is 4363 (the sixth census in 2010). It has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages. Township government, Township People's Congress and township party committee are stationed in yuribu, chacuo village.

In April 1964, mami district was established. In 1996, it has a population of 3300 and governs 6 townships, including 3 administrative villages in chacuo Township, 3 administrative villages in Luoma Township, 2 administrative villages in Gujian Township, 3 administrative villages in Dingchang Township, 3 administrative villages in Laqin Township and 3 administrative villages in Guchang township. In 2001, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged to establish Mami township. In, mami Township had jurisdiction over 18 villages, namely ciwugam, namuche, Wuqing, Reza, Sharu, chakugamu, zengmanamu, lululung, kangbaguo, youripu, zhadong, Bandai, GONGYA, kangbamagou, Zhagong, Xingqian, Keqin and Mantang Maji. In 2000, the permanent population of Mami township was 3605 (Wupu). In 2006, it has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages: chacuo, Dingchang, ciwugamu, Guchang, Haoxia, Reza, Keqin, Wuqing, namuche and Xingqian.
