There are 14 village committees and 27 natural villages under the jurisdiction of the government. The town government is located in Xinba village.

Located in the west of the county, in the middle of the Longzi River Valley.

Historical evolution

In 1959, xingba district was established. In 1987, songba, Yeba and Maisha were merged into a new songba township. In 1996, xingba township (Xinba Township?) had a population of 3300 and governed seven administrative villages, namely, Longxu, Xue, tangdui, Xinba, niangka, yucuo and zaguo; songba Township had a population of 2700 and governed eight administrative villages, namely, Maisha, Sangyu, Shala, songba, Chilai, Pai, Yeba and Qiba.
