Kangma County, Xigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region governs the township and four administrative villages, namely, Ke village, qionggui village, galanu village and Galaxia village.

Located in the south of Kangma County, Xigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region, 50 kilometers away from Kangma county.

The township covers an area of 1000 square kilometers.

Gala township was built in 1960. The commune was changed in 1971. In 1987, qionggui, Ke and Gala were merged into a new Gala township.

History and culture

Before 1948, linxizong (place name), the king of Bhutan, sent some personnel to a place called "yadang" (a grassland under Lamu Lake) in gala Township every year around June 15 of the Tibetan calendar to carry out the border trade of physical exchange, which lasted for more than 100 years. In 1948, the masses fought against ulah and broke off the exchange between them.
