Bakai town

Bakai town is a town under the jurisdiction of Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It is located in the middle and upper reaches of the Duliu River and the hinterland of the moon mountain in the Pearl River system. It is 23 kilometers away from the county. It borders Guzhou town in the East, Jihua Township in the south, Dingwei Township in the west, Pingjiang town in the north and donglang Township in Congjiang County in the southeast. The town government is located in the economic and cultural center of the southern part of the county.

Evolution of organizational system

In the seventh year of Yongzheng reign of Qing Dynasty (1729 A.D.), there were eight Kailong lawsuits and eight Kaixun. It was abandoned in the late Qing Dynasty. In 1932, it set up Bakai Town, Layou, gaowho, Dujiang and other townships. In 1943, two townships of Bakai and Dayou were established. In 1958, Feiyue commune was established. In 1961, two communes of Bakai and Dayou were established. In 1984, it was set up in Bakai and Laxi townships. in 1992, it was merged into Bakai township. on January 14, 2016, the people's Government of Guizhou Province (QFH [2016] No. 19) approved the abolition of Bakai Township and the establishment of Bakai town.

The town covers an area of 241 square kilometers, of which 98.8% is mountainous. The Miao, Dong and Shui ethnic minorities account for 96.8% of the total population, of which 19651 are agricultural people. Their main income is mainly from crop planting, forestry and animal husbandry, and their income from labor services also accounts for a large proportion. The paddy field area of the town is 9010 mu, 0.44 mu per capita; the area of Chinese fir and pine and natural forest is 278000 mu, the area of bamboo forest is 1032 mu, the volume of standing trees is 598300 cubic meters, and the forest coverage rate is 57.54%. It is a typical agricultural township in mountainous area. the town has a mild climate, abundant sunshine and subtropical monsoon climate. The annual accumulated temperature is 6562 ℃, the annual average temperature is 18.1 ℃, the annual rainfall is 1200 mm, and the frost free period is 308 days. It has unique geographical conditions for the development of the planting and breeding industry.
