Baiwanyao town is located in the southwest of Xingyi City, 31 kilometers away from the urban area, with a land area of 119.42 square kilometers. Population nationality

Baiwanyao town originally belonged to baiwanyao Township and Dashuijing Township under the jurisdiction of Wusha district. When the district was withdrawn and the township was built in 1992, the two townships were merged and the Nagang village allocated by Jiake township was added to build baiwanyao town. The town governs two offices (baiwanyao office and Dashuijing Office), seven villages (originally 13 villages), one neighborhood committee, 102 (residential) villager groups, 6400 households, with a total population of more than 28900 people. The population in the central area of the town is more than 1800 people from 320 households, plus more than 2500 people from the town authorities. there are Han, Buyi, Yi and Miao Nationalities as the main living ethnic groups, with ethnic minorities accounting for about 35%. In some areas, the traditional ethnic style is still maintained, with prominent Buyi villages such as jiamashi, large bronze drums and stilts.
