Yankong Street
Yankong street is the first street under the jurisdiction of Jinsha County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. In June 2013, the people's Government of Guizhou Province approved to abolish the system of Yankong town in Jinsha County and set up Yankong street.
Yankong street is located in the north of Jinsha County, about 12 kilometers away from the county. It has jurisdiction over 39 administrative villages, 1 neighborhood committee and 156 villager groups. There are 9163 households of Han, Miao, Yi, Buyi and other nationalities in the town, with more than 38400 people, including 3578 ethnic minorities. The total cultivated land area of the town is 31278 mu, including 18478 mu of farmland and 12800 mu of soil.
Historical evolution
Name and origin
There is a natural stone cave at the foot of Wenfeng, the branch of Baiyun Mountain. The hole passes through dozens of steps and is several steps wide. People call this place "Yankong". Because the word "Kong" is not elegant, it is changed to "Kong" and named Yankong.
Evolution of administrative districts
In December 1949, it was Yankong Township, subordinate to the fourth district (Pingba).
In July 1953, the county was divided into eight districts, Yankong township was set up. In late September, Yankong street was set up in four districts.
In 1955, the county was divided into nine districts, with rock hole area.
On February 5, 1959, nine communes were set up in the county, and Yankong was one of them.
In 1962, the rock hole area was restored.
In December 1991, Yankong district was removed and Yankong town was set up.
In 2013, the people's Government of Guizhou Province issued the reply of the provincial people's Government on Approving the adjustment of administrative divisions of some townships in Jinsha County (QFH [2013] No. 140), agreeing to cancel the establishment of Yankong town and set Yankong street in Jinsha County. The 14 villages (communities) of Yankong town and Dashui family community of Chengguan town are the administrative areas of Yankong street, and the street office is located in Yunyan community.
