Dashan Miao and Yi nationality township is located in the northeast slope edge of the central uplift of the county (Magan mountain and Gongji mountain). It belongs to the Chishui River Basin. It borders Jinsha County in the northeast, Guowa Township in the north, piaojing and Shishi towns in the west, Sanyuan Township in the southeast and Xingxiu Township in the East.

Historical evolution

Name and origin

It got its name from the township government's garrison in Dashan.

Evolution of administrative districts

In the spring of 1916, dashanshao district was set up.

In March 1953, it belongs to Chengguan District.

In May 1984, Dashan commune was transformed into Dashan township.

On July 23, 1991, the nine village committees of the former Dashan Township and the former Guixiang Township were merged into Dashan township.

Ecological management

Every autumn, only bamboo shoots can collect about 75000 kg, which is a mountain treasure in food. The local people can increase their income by more than 90000 yuan. However, in order to maintain soil erosion, it is strictly forbidden to cut in recent years for ecological construction. The second is Gastrodia elata, which is a rare medicinal material. However, due to intensive excavation, the wild resources are increasingly scarce, and it has been planted artificially in recent years.
