Name and origin
It was originally named yujiazhai. After liberation, there were Han, Miao, Yi and other nationalities living in the territory, so it was renamed unity for the sake of national unity and harmonious coexistence.

Evolution of administrative districts
On November 28, 1949, Bijie was liberated, and the county was divided into five administrative regions, with a district office, belonging to Linkou Township under the jurisdiction of Liangyan.
In 1950, there were eight administrative divisions, belonging to Linkou Township under the jurisdiction of Yanzikou.

Xiangping township of Linkou district was merged into Weihe township; Lianxiang Township and Falang Township were merged into Yu township; haiga township was merged with Desheng Township and Desheng township was merged.
In 1958, township commune was one of the eight communes under the jurisdiction of Linkou District, known as Yujia commune.
In 1959, the district changed into commune, and the township and town changed into management area, belonging to the unity management area under the jurisdiction of Linkou commune.

In 1963, there were 15 administrative divisions, belonging to Tuanjie commune under the jurisdiction of Linkou district.
In 1965, Linkou district was transformed from 12 communes into 7 communes.
In 1982, communes were transformed into townships and towns.
From 1984 to 1990, it belonged to 6 townships and 1 town of Tuanjie and Dadu under the jurisdiction of Linkou district.
