Wanglong town

Wanglong town is located in the center of Chishui City, 105 ° 12 ′ 30 ″ E and 28 ° 52 ′ 38 ″ n, with the highest altitude of 1150M and the lowest altitude of 280m. It borders Hushi town in the East, bing'an Township in the south, Tiantai town in the west, Fengming town in Hejiang County in Sichuan Province in the north and Baiyun Township in the city. Renchi expressway runs through the whole town for 8.2km, dividing Wanglong town into two sides. It is the hometown of Dendrobium nobile in China.

On July 24, 2019, Wanglong town was selected into the list of national strong agricultural towns in 2019.

Geography and climate

The town is located in Hilly and low valley area, which is composed of flat dam, small ditch and high mountain. The main soil type is clay, which is typical purple soil. It belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate, with annual sunshine rate of 28% - 30%, annual average temperature of 18.1c and annual average rainfall of 1084.4mm

Population nationality

Covering an area of 147 square kilometers, the town governs 10 administrative villages, 1 community neighborhood committee, 64 villager groups and 5 community resident groups. According to the statistics at the end of 2010, there are 5465 households with a total population of 21721, including 11532 males and 10189 females, 5432 non-agricultural population and 16289 agricultural population. There are six ethnic minorities, including Miao nationality.

Major industries

The town has 22743 mu of arable land, including 14943 mu of farmland, 7800 mu of soil), 16900 mu of forest resources, and more than 10000 mu of precious Chinese medicinal materials, such as Dendrobium, phellodendron, eucommia, Huangqin, Gastrodia elata, with a forest coverage rate of 74.5%. The main crops are rice, corn, wheat, sweet potato and so on, and the main industries are bamboo, medicine, livestock and fruit.
