Nanwa township is under the jurisdiction of Jinyang County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Nanwa township was established in 1953, the commune was changed in 1972, and the township was restored in 1984.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish nanwa Township and put its administrative area under the jurisdiction of nanwa Town, which is located at No. 9, Hongyan street, ter village.

Nanwa township is located in the northwest of the county, 54 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 44 square kilometers and has a population of 6000. It has jurisdiction over four village committees, namely, tutel, Shubo, Diluo and Nikola.

The main agricultural products in nanwa township are corn and potato. Animal husbandry is mainly pig and sheep.
