Laojuntan Township

Laojuntan township is a township established in Huidong County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province in May 2014.

In May 2014, it was approved by Sichuan Provincial People's Government (cfgm [2014] No. 15). Xintian Township and Yanba Township were abolished and laojuntan township was established. The administrative division of Wujiaping village in Xintian Township, Yanba Township and Huangping township is the jurisdiction of laojuntan township. Laojuntan township is located in the southeast of Huidong County, bordering yezu Township and Manyingou town in the north, Tangtang town in the southwest, and Dongchuan District of Yunnan Province across Jinsha River in the southeast, covering an area of 206.07 square kilometers. Township government is located in group 3 of Jingshan village, 117 kilometers away from Huidong County. It has 15 administrative villages and 74 villager groups with a total population of 9283 (2017). The inland area is rugged and steep with vertical and horizontal river valleys, with an altitude of 700-3400 meters. The climate is dry and the light is sufficient. There are abundant mineral resources (copper, iron, lead and zinc, etc.).
