Bendu Township

Bendu township is a township under the jurisdiction of Derong County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. In 1958, Bendu township was set up, commune was changed in 1973 and returned to the countryside in 1984. Bendu township is located 12 km south of the city of Derong County, bordering with eight days, paleology, songmai and quyagong; and Dongwang Township, Shangri La County, Yunnan Province. Located in the valley area of the lower reaches of Dingqu River, the climate is warm, the sunshine is abundant and the water resources are abundant. The crops are mainly wheat, barley and corn, and they are rich in pepper, garlic, watermelon, potatoes, wine grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon), etc. economic trees include walnut, Tibetan orange, pomegranate, peach, Tibetan pear, apple, etc. The scenic spot, especially the Momu Grand Canyon, has become a famous tourist attraction, and has a broad prospect of tourism development. There are abundant resources of Chinese herbal medicine in the countryside, among which Cordyceps, Fritillaria and Coptis are the most valuable for exploitation.

Bendu township is located in the south of the county, 13 km from the county seat, and adjacent to Yunnan Province in the East. The area is 340.52 square kilometers, with a population of 1595 (2017). There are 13 village committees including Bendu, Mo mu (upper, middle, lower), Bense, Gaser, mug, Shazhong, Dagong, namo, Jiaying and Russian musicology. The main agricultural products of Bendu township are corn, barley and pomegranate. It produces Cordyceps, Fritillaria, astragalus, snow lotus and other precious herbs. There are wild animals such as bears and leopards, and national crafts are made of bamboo and earthenware.
