With the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Derong County abolished baisong Township and established baisong Town, taking the former administrative region of Baisong township as the administrative region of Baisong town. Baisong town is located in the north of Derong County, 35 kilometers away from the county. It borders Baiyi township of Xiangcheng County in the East, zhengdou township of Xiangcheng County in the north, Ciwu Township in the West and Sizha Township in the south, with an average altitude of about 2700 meters. It is a typical dry hot valley climate with less rainfall, with annual rainfall of 308.8 mm, annual minimum temperature of - 8.9 ℃ and maximum temperature of 36.3 ℃. Dingqu River, a tributary of Jinsha River, is rich in water resources. The total area is 393.53 square kilometers.
