Geka Township

Geka township is located in the southwest edge of Sichuan Province, China, in the southeast of Qinghai Tibet Plateau, east of Hengduan Mountains. Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture belongs to Kangba Tibetan region. It spans 27 ° 58 '- 29 ° 30' n and 99 ° 56 '- 100 ° 36' e, 174 km long from north to South and 63 km wide from east to west, with a total area of 710.8 square kilometers. With a population of 938 (2017), mainly Tibetan, Jingji belongs to Fengnong semi pastoral area. Daocheng County has a population of nearly 30000. Among them, Tibetans account for more than 96%, in addition to Han, Naxi, Hui, Yi and other ethnic groups.

Daocheng was named "Daoba" in ancient times. Tibetan means open land at the mouth of the valley. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it belonged to the Bailang Qiang nationality. In the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to the Tubo nationality. In the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to the xuanweisi of the Tubo nationality. In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the duogandu nationality. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the Litang chieftain. Guangxu 33 years (AD 1911), officially approved the establishment of "Daocheng County", under the Kangding Prefecture. "Xikang tujing" records: "in the 33rd year of Guangxu, because of the trial planting of rice here, it was renamed Daocheng County. I wish it success.". In 1939, Xikang province was founded and renamed Daocheng County. In December 1950, it belonged to Xikang Tibetan Autonomous Region. In 1955, it belongs to Xikang Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture; in October of the same year, Xikang province was abolished and it belongs to Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province.

Shangri-La
