Religion
As an ancient and primitive religion in Tibetan areas, Benbo religion existed in dege area as early as Sui and Tang Dynasties. In the 7th century, Benbo religion was still the only religion in dege area; at the end of the 7th century and the beginning of the 8th century, there were Dingqing temple, Rongge temple, zhongsa temple and other Benbo temples in the county. The first nine generations of the dege family, who fled to Kangbei in the early 8th century, were all believers of Benbo. They passed on Bon religion in Dengke and dege. After the 11th century, the Ningma sect (the old sect) of Tibetan Buddhism was introduced into dege, Kadang, Gaju and Sakya sect, and they were also introduced into dege and rapidly expanded their influence, which greatly weakened the strength of the Benbo sect. At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, Qinghai Mongolian Heshuote tribe and dege chieftain formed a military alliance to eliminate the armed forces of ganzibaili chieftain, who respected Bon only. In this war, the Bon power in dege area was also devastated. In order to survive and develop, the remaining temples of Benbo surrendered to the rapidly expanding dege chieftain and came under the jurisdiction of dege Fawang. Since then, the successive dege chieftains have pursued a more flexible religious policy of coercion regardless of denomination. Benbo temple in the county also absorbed and integrated with various Tibetan sects in its survival and development, gradually evolved into a faction of Tibetan Buddhism, and has always maintained its sectarian power, which is second only to Ningma, Sakya, Kaju and slightly stronger than Gelug.
present situation
Dingqing temple is located in an open area surrounded by three mountains in zhongzake Township, dege county. The building complex includes main hall, reception hall, safekeeping room, etc. The temple covers an area of 13300 square meters, with an actual construction area of 1966 square meters. Among them, the main hall is 751 square meters, the reception hall and safekeeping room are 1125 square meters, the kitchen is 90 square meters, the Tibetan Opera dam is 822 square meters, and ZhaKong is 10512 square meters.
