Sanya Yi nationality township is under the jurisdiction of Jiulong County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Sanya Yi township is located in the southeast of the county, 51 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 111.44 square kilometers and has a population of 2843 (2017). It has jurisdiction over four village committees, namely, longtangzi, laogua, other GA and majianzi.
Historical evolution
In 1957, Sanya township was established; in 1973, it was changed into a commune; in 1984, it was restored and renamed Sanya Yi Township in the same year. in December 2019, Eryi Township and Sanya Yi township will be abolished and Sanya town will be established. The administrative area of Sanya town will be the former administrative area of Eryi Township and Sanya Yi township. Sanya Town People's government is located at No. 32, group 4, longtangzi village.
