Mupo township is located in the middle reaches of Fubian River to the north of the county. It is the necessary path from MaoGong county to Lianghekou in the long march of the Red Army. The township government is 107 kilometers away from the prefecture capital malkang in the north and 36 km from Xiaojin County in the West.
It has jurisdiction over 26 villagers' groups in 8 administrative villages (mupo, dengchun, youth, recreation, Damu, Daliang, zhaoniu and Mulong), of which Kangle village is a pure animal husbandry village, with a population of 3520 people (2017), and belongs to Tibetan settlement area.
