Nongxi town

Nongxi town is under the jurisdiction of Guang'an District, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province.

Historical evolution

Before September 1992, nongxi township was an independent Township in Xiexing district. In October 1992, after the district was removed and the township was merged, nongxi town was established, which governed three offices of Long'an, nongxi and the whole people. In June 1995, the office of Long'an was changed into an independent township. In October 1999, the offices of nongxi and the whole people were abolished, and nongxi town governed 18 administrative villages.

In March 2013, Guang'an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Guang'an Municipal People's government put Xiexing town and nongxi town of Guang'an District under the management of Xiexing eco cultural tourism park, and laid out the science and education culture, tourism development and ecological construction cooperation functional zone of Sichuan Chongqing Cooperation Demonstration Zone.

Economic overview

Nongxi town is located in the northwest of Guang'an District, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province, bordering Yuechi County in the west, Xiexing town in the East, guangmen Township and Long'an Township in the south, Yuelai town and Peng Township in the north. Xixi River, a tributary of Qujiang River, passes through the town. It is 10km away from Guang'an Municipal People's government. The altitude is generally 350-510m. The soil is mostly gray brown purple soil developed from gray brown sandy mudstone of Shaximiao Formation of Jurassic system. The soil layer is generally 30-50 cm thick. By 2008, nongxi town covers an area of 43089 mu, with 17293 mu of arable land, 1 community, 17 administrative villages, 151 villager groups, and 0.82 mu of arable land per capita. There are 8144 mu of forest land, including 4124 mu of economic forest. The main varieties are longanyou, Guanggan, Hongju, Xueli, peach, etc., 3035 mu of bamboo, 1028 mu of four season trees, and the main tree species are cypress, eucalyptus, Qianzhang, Toona sinensis, poplar, with a forest coverage rate of 18.9%.

The traditional agriculture of nongxi town is mainly rice, corn, sweet potato, wheat and sorghum. After 1990, with the continuous progress of modern agricultural production technology, the total grain output of nongxi town in 1993 was 982 thousand tons, and 18100 pigs were sold; in 1995, the total grain output was 10300 tons, 503 kg per capita, 45 kg higher than that in 1994, and 26000 pigs were sold; the rice yield per mu increased from 410 kg in 1985 to 570 kg in 2005, and the highest rice yield per mu reached 626 kg. Corn yield per mu increased from 345 kg in 1985 to 480 kg in 2005. Wheat yield per mu increased from 204 kg in 1985 to 310 kg in 2005. With the further adjustment of industrial structure, the planting area of sorghum decreased from 1230 mu in 1992 to 198 mu in 2005.

By 2005, the development of modern agriculture in nongxi town has its own characteristics: the ratio of grain to economy has reached 4:6, forming a modern agricultural industry development mode with vegetables, longan pomelo, live pigs and small poultry as the main parts. The town has an annual vegetable production of over 8500 mu; there are 3 pig farms with an annual output of more than 400 pigs, 2 pig farms with an annual output of more than 50 pigs, 3 chicken farms with an annual output of more than 1000 layers; there are 36500 pigs, 826800 small poultry and 1100 tons of eggs.

In 1990, there were only 387 people exporting labor services in nongxi town. In 2005, there were 5872 people exporting labor services, accounting for 41.5% of the total population. The annual income from labor services was 38 million yuan.

In 1986, the average net income of the town was only 89.5 yuan. In 1992, it increased to 369 yuan. In 1995, it increased to 1392 yuan. In 2005, the average net income of the town reached 2509 yuan. The average annual consumption per capita increased from 71.2 yuan in 1986 to 1770 yuan in 2005. The diet gradually changed from rice, corn and sweet potato to rice, meat and vegetables. Longan pomelo growing area

Nongxi town is one of the rich places of longan pomelo in Guang'an. Longan pomelo has excellent fruit quality. From 1992 to 1999, longan pomelo won the gold cup award of national high quality pomelo evaluation for five times in a row. In 1995, longan pomelo won the gold award of China Agricultural Expo. In 2002, it passed the identification of pollution-free production base, and its products passed the pollution-free laboratory test, belonging to the first batch of pollution-free high-quality agricultural products base in Guang'an City. More than 100000 longan pomelo trees are planted in this town. The "bully green onion" (used for castrating pickles) produced in the red village of the town is sold to Chongqing and other places for more than 20 tons every year.
