Mutan town

Mutan town is a township level administrative region under the jurisdiction of Gong county, Yibin City, Sichuan Province.

Mutan town is located in the west of Gongxian County, 56 kilometers away from Gongxian County. Nanguang river runs through the whole area from east to west, and borders Shangluo Town, Xialuo Town, Xiaoer Town, Tengda Town, Weixin town and Leyi town of Junlian county. The government is located in community 1 of Xinmin Village (fujiaba), facing Tengda town of Junlian County across the river. Covering an area of 47.24 square kilometers, it governs 10 administrative villages (including one rural community) and 59 agricultural communities, with a total of 12364 people (2017). The territory is dominated by low mountains, most of which belong to karst terrain. The highest peak is rhinoceros mountain, with an altitude of 1050 meters.

Mutan town is named after three beaches in Nanguang river. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was the seat of Nanguang County of Qianwei Prefecture. In 1935, Mutan town was set up as a joint guarantee. In October 1958, Mutan people's commune was established. In December 1983, it was changed into Mutan town. In September 1992, it was withdrawn from the district and merged with the town. In August 2006, it merged with the original Zhongshan town to form today's Mutan town.

Mutan town has convenient transportation and communication and complete infrastructure. The total mileage of highways in the territory is nearly 168 km, including 29 km of county roads and 139 km of town and village roads. The main highways are Xiaomu highway (Xiaoer to Mutan), Muyu highway (Mutan to Yuhe), mushang road and Luofu highway (Luodu to Mutan fujiaba). Jinyun railway passes through Mutan Town, and a freight marshalling station is built in fujiaba, with an annual designed capacity of 2.5 million tons. Now the average daily coal transportation is about 2000 tons. Meanwhile, the power, drinking water, communication, health, education and other social undertakings have also been improved, laying a solid foundation for the economic development of Mudan.

Mutan town is a typical agricultural town with four distinct seasons. The land along the Nanguang river is relatively fertile. It has 10200 mu of cultivated land, including 4141 mu of farmland, 6100 mu of land and 7100 mu of woodland. It mainly produces rice, corn, sweet potato, sericulture and tea. Among them, sericulture and animal husbandry are the two pillar industries of Mutan town. In 2013, the sericulture industry produced 17260 seeds, 14630 cocoons, with an output value of 32 million yuan, 30000 live pigs and a total grain output of 7215 tons. The per capita net income of farmers is 6815 yuan.

Mutan town is known as "the hometown of quartz sand in Gongxian County and a pearl on the Bank of Nanguang River". It is rich in mineral resources, including more than 60 million tons of shale and 47 million tons of quartz sand, of which the content of SO2 in quartz sand is 99.97%, which can be mined in open pit. It is an excellent raw material for glass products. Since Willis float glass Washery was settled in Mutan in 2012, our town has actively carried out coordination work. Now the Washery project construction has been fully completed, the equipment has been installed in place, and will be put into normal production soon. At the same time, the mining work of rhino mountain mining area has been orderly promoted. on February 12, 2014, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the removal of Hutan town to build it into a town, which governs the administrative region of the former Hutan town.
