Helou Township

Helou Township, once a township in Langzhong City, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, was withdrawn and merged into Mulan town in 2019. Located in the northwest of Langzhong City, at the junction of Langzhong City, Jiange county and Nanbu County, and adjacent to Shengzhong reservoir, there are national cultural relics protection units Wulong temple, Langzhong municipal cultural relics protection units Helou temple, pumpkin village and daluoshan village. Helou Township covers an area of 39.66 square kilometers, with 347 national highway running through the territory. It governs 10 administrative villages and 71 villager groups, with a total of 6530 people (2017).

Helou Township, located in the northwest of Langzhong City, is 484 meters above sea level. Located at the junction of Langzhong, Jiange and southern cities and counties, the town is 35 kilometers away from the urban area, covering an area of 39.66 square kilometers. It borders Xiangchen town and qiaolou township of Jiange County in the East, and Siyi town in the south. It is submerged by Shengzhong reservoir. It has three national cultural relics protection units, namely Wulong temple, and three Langzhong municipal cultural relics protection units, namely Helou temple, pumpkin village and daluoshan village. The forest coverage rate is 45%. There are four rivers in the township with beautiful mountains and rivers. The provincial highway 302 runs through the territory for five kilometers to houzipu. There are 10 villages, 71 agricultural cooperatives, 6530 people (2017), and 7702 mu of cultivated land. The main agricultural and sideline products are "rice, corn, wheat, rape, pepper, peanuts, beans".

Famous cultural relics

Wulong Temple

Wulong temple is located 100 meters east of Baihu village, Helou Township, Langzhong City. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in 1343. The original Mountain Gate, theater, left and right wing rooms and Wenchang Pavilion are the earliest famous Buddhist temples. By the time of maintenance in the Qing Dynasty, it had been used as a clan Temple of the Renlong clan. Other temple buildings were destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution", and now only Wenchang Pavilion, a cultural site of the Yuan Dynasty, remains. Wenchang Pavilion, with its back against laolongtou hill and standing on a ridge facing south, is of all wood structure. Its architectural style is simple and unadorned, and its style is magnificent. Therefore, it has been declared as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council.
