Hongjiang town is located on the North Bank of Fujiang River, only 44 kilometers away from Pengxi county. It spans 30 ° 40 ́ N and 105 ° 16  e, bordering Qunli Township and Chuanshan Tang Township in our county in the East, Huima town in Daying County across the river in the south, Tuopai town (Liushu town) in Shehong County in the West and Tianfu town in the north. The town covers an area of 27.02 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 7 villages, including Tangyi village, Shunjiang village, Yongyi village, Mayan village, Baiping village and buying village, 2 neighborhood committees, 130 villager groups and 6 resident groups. The total population is 16961 (2017).

Evolution of organizational system

In 1937, he set up his hometown of Kang, which was named after the ferry of a Kang family. Kangjia district was set up here in 1952. In 1956, Kangjia district was abolished. Kangjia township was subordinate to Longsheng district. In 1963, it was changed to Tianfu district. In 1966, it was renamed Hongjiang township. In 1985, it was transformed into Hongjiang town. In December 1997, some villager groups of Wenwu, Yonghe, Xiajia villages and KANGYI village in the west of Fujiang River in Hongjiang town were assigned to Daying county. Hongjiang town is located in kangjiadu, 40 kilometers away from the county.

Hongjiang Town, formerly known as kangjiadu, was built in the late Ming Dynasty. It has always been an important channel. In 1765, the salt ambassador's office was set up here. It was an important place of salt cards at that time. In the second year of Xuantong, it belonged to Penglai Town, and in the first year of the Republic of China, it was restored. It was changed into Hongjiang people's commune in 1969 and Hongjiang town (separate town) on June 19, 1985.

In 1998, Pengxi county was divided into three administrative villages, Wenwu village, xiajiagou village and Yonghe village, which were assigned to Huima Town, Daying County, the old three districts. Hongjiang town has always been an important traffic road, which can be seen from its original name of kangjiadu. The traffic of Hongjiang is very developed. Hongjiang town is located across hills and river terraces of Fujiang River Valley. It is located in mid hill, mid valley and dam tidal zone. The terrain is high in Northwest and low in Southeast. The altitude is 455m. The whole town is surrounded by Fujiang River. The terrain naturally forms two large blocks. Pingba land accounts for more than 2 / 3 of the total area of the town.
