Huangmaoya town is located in the south of Qinba Mountain, 102 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 79.2 square kilometers and more than 9000 mu of cultivated land. It governs 15 villages and 2 communities, with a population of 15000. It is located in the northern edge of Sichuan Basin and is the junction of Wangcang, Cangxi and Nanjiang counties. Huangmaoya town is a subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with abundant heat, abundant rain, long frost free period, mild climate, four distinct seasons, long winter and short summer, and long spring than autumn. It has the climate characteristics of "cold mountain, strong spring at valley bottom". The territory is rich in tourism resources. It is the site of the famous huangmaoya battle site, the memorial site of former president Li Xiannian's ashes, the site of the municipal cultural relics protection unit "Xujia ancestral hall", the National Red Tourism classic scenic spot, the national 3A level tourism scenic spot, the Patriotic Party spirit education base, and the site of Sanxikou National Forest Park. The territory has a beautiful ecological environment, beautiful mountains and rivers, lush forests, towering ancient trees, with a forest coverage rate of 70%. There are thousands of years old ancient cypress, ginkgo, metasequoia and other precious plants. You can enjoy the flowers in spring, avoid the heat in summer, listen to the pines in autumn, play with the snow in winter, and taste three fields in four seasons. In recent years, around the development strategy of "red plus green", relying on the original Sanxikou Forest Park in Longdong Township and the original red tourism cultural resources in Huangmao Township, efforts have been made to build a tourism town with northeast Sichuan characteristics and an ecological health research base.

Evolution of organizational system

In 2020, Huangmao Township and Longdong township will be abolished and huangmaoya town will be established. The administrative area of huangmaoya town will be the former Huangmao Township and Longmen community, Huilong village, Qipan village, Dayuan village, Yuanjing village, Maoping village and Houhe village of Longdong township. The people's Government of huangmaoya town is located at 57 Chaoyang Road, Chaoyang community.

In September 2020, it will be selected as the second batch of cultural tourism characteristic towns in Sichuan Province.
