Huangyang town

Huangyang Town, Wangcang County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province is adjacent to Puji town in the East, Longfeng Township in the south, Donghe town in the West and Gaoyang town in the north. It is 9 km away from the county seat and covers an area of 108.3 square kilometers. Huangyang river originates from Shuiying River in the North and flows into Jialing River System in the West. It is bounded by dianzi Village watershed. The river in the East flows into Qujiang River system through Mumen town and Dabashan in hilly area It is dark purple mud in the central and southern part of the town, purple yellow mud and lengsha yellow mud in hanwangshan mine in the northern part of the town.

Name and origin

According to the local chronicles, most of the area is yellow soil, and the huangyangxia area is rich in sulfur deposits, which were mined here as early as before the Ming Dynasty. In addition, most of the soil met with heavy rain, and the water everywhere was yellow. There is also a well in the west of huangyangchang, which is about one meter wide and two meters deep. It is said that the well water changed from green, yellow and blue in the early, middle and late periods, so it is named Huangyang.

Evolution of administrative districts

Ming and Qing dynasties belong to Guangyuan County. In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to huangyangbao and the fifth regiment of Guangyuan. Huangyang township was established in December 1950. In the spring of 1952, it was divided into Huangyang and dianzi townships. In 1956, Huangyang Township and dianzi Township were merged into Huangyang township. The people's commune was established in September 1961. It was changed to Huangyang Township in January 1984. In October 1992, the township was set up.
