Maoxi town

In March 2018, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to change the name of Shuikou Town to Maoxi town. Maoxi town is located on the Bank of Chishui River, under the jurisdiction of Gulin County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. It faces Maotai Town in Renhuai City, Guizhou Province in the East and Maoba town in Renhuai City, Guizhou Province in the south. It is the first town in northern Guizhou to enter Sichuan, known as the "East Gate of Luzhou". It is a provincial "rural tourism demonstration town", a provincial "small town pilot town", a provincial border trade town and a provincial health market town. The territory is rich in tourism resources, including Baila Myrica forest, Qingyun lake, Biyun temple, liangjianggou waterfall, Jiucheng palace and other scenic spots. It is rich in high-quality fruits, especially Baila Myrica, which is famous in Sichuan and Guizhou. It is a good place for leisure, vacation, sightseeing and tourism.

Maoxi town is located on the Bank of Chishui River, known as maocaoxi in ancient times. It is located in the east of Gulin County, on the North Bank of Chishui River, 98 km away from the county seat. It is closely connected with Maotai Town, the famous "hometown of national liquor" at home and abroad. It is the first town to enter Sichuan in northern Guizhou, known as the "East Gate of Luzhou". It is a provincial "rural tourism demonstration town", a provincial "small town pilot town", a provincial border trade town and a provincial health town.

Evolution of organizational system

During the period of the Republic of China, there were five townships, namely Shuikou, Miaolin, nanmu, Wulong and mayue, under the jurisdiction of eleven districts. They were merged with mayue Township in 1956, Wulong and Miaolin townships in 1958 to form Shuikou commune, and Miaolin Jiuling townships in 1992 to form Shuikou Town. Shuikou Town is one of the third turning points of the Red Army's long march "four crossing Chishui". In the spring of 1935, 34 Red Army soldiers were bombed by enemy planes and died bravely, sleeping on the hills of chengfotun in our town. In March 2018, with the consent of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Shuikou Town was renamed Maoxi town.
