Mingtong Town, subordinate to Chengkou County of Chongqing, is located in the south of Chengkou county. It is adjacent to Liaozi Township in the East, Jiming Township in the south, Xuanhan County in Sichuan Province in the West and Zhouxi Township in the north. It is 68km away from the residence of Chengkou county government, with a total area of 83.7km2.

In the early Qing Dynasty, Mingtong town belonged to Babao; in 1992, it was changed from Mingtong township to Mingtong town. As of June 2020, Mingtong town has one community and six administrative villages, and its people's government is located in datangkou.

History of construction

In the early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Babao.

In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it belonged to Mingtong Township regiment of Southern District. In the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), it was the Fourth District Mingtong Lianbao. In 1940, it was changed to Mingtong township.

In 1953, Mingtong township was divided into seven small townships: Mingtong, Gaotang, Nijin, Anle, Zhouxi, Sanyuan and Xinsheng.

In 1956, Mingtong, Gaotang, Nijin and Anle merged into Mingtong township.

In 1958, Mingtong township was changed into Mingtong commune.
