Located in the southwest of Beibei District, Xiema street is adjacent to longfengqiao street and Zhongliangshan town of Shapingba District in the East, Fenghuang town and Huilongba town of Shapingba District in the south, Liutang Town, Qitang town and Batang town of Bishan District in the west, and Beiwenquan street in the north. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the area around Xiema street was Xiema Township, which was under the jurisdiction of the Fourth District of Ba County; in 2018, it was changed from Xiema town to Xiema street. In 1912, Xiema township was established under the jurisdiction of the Fourth District of Ba County.

In April 1953, Xiema township was divided into Xiema Township, Huilong Township and Motan township.
In May 1956, Xiema Township, Huilong Township and Motan Township were merged into Xiema township.
In August 1958, Xiema township was transformed into Xiema commune.
In July 1960, Xiema commune was renamed Julong commune and Shuangfeng City commune was established.
In October 1962, Julong commune was abolished and Xiema commune and Motan commune were established respectively.
In June 1965, Shuangfeng City commune was changed into Xiema street.
In May 1984, Xiema commune was changed into Xiema township.
In April 1987, Xiema Township and Xiema Street merged to establish Xiema town.
In October 1989, Motan township was merged into Xiema town.
