Qiang Wei Township
Qiangwei township is connected with Yantan town in the East, Bailin township of Bama County in the west, Jiangnan Township in the southeast and Yiwei Township in the north. The township government is 93 km away from the county seat. The township is one of the old revolutionary base areas.
administrative division
The township governs 6 Village Committees (i.e. Qiangwei, Naliang, hongchou, Jiankang, Aiwei, POMA) and 134 village groups. The total population of the township reached 18090 in 2000 and 20126 at the end of 2002, with Zhuang, Yao, Han and other nationalities. It is a multi-ethnic community. Qiangyangwei Township, originally belonging to Bama County, was incorporated into the newly established Dahua Yao Autonomous County in August 1987. In March 1988, eight villages in qiangyu Township, including qiangyu, POMA, Aiwei, hongchou, Naliang, gulong, Donggang and Jiankang, were put under the jurisdiction of Bama County.
Culture and education
At present, there is a junior middle school, a central primary school, and five village primary schools in the township. There are 21 teaching points. There are 1786 students in primary schools and 844 students in middle schools. At present, there is a township library with a collection of more than 2000 books. the popularization rate of cable TV is 60%, and the mass cultural and sports activities are rich and colorful. It is a famous literary and art town in the county.
economic development
The territory is rich in mineral resources, including gold, titanium, silicon, manganese and other minerals, among which the silicon ore reserves rank first, followed by titanium and gold. Since 2000, due to the upsurge of poverty alleviation and western development, the township has convenient transportation. A large number of foreign businessmen have settled in the township to develop mineral resources. There are eight silicon mining enterprises and one ferrotitanium concentrator invested by Hainan businessmen, with an annual output of more than 30000 tons of raw silica ore and a production value of nearly 2.5 million yuan. Meanwhile, Gulong hydropower station, a small hydropower station with an investment of more than 10 million, has been put into operation. In 2003, the gross national product of the township was 37.83 million yuan, the total financial income was 430000 yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 1200 yuan.
