Population: more than 35000. Banling township is located in the north of Du'an Yao Autonomous County, 70 kilometers away from the county. It borders laren Township in the East, Xiaao Township and Baoping Township in Jinchengjiang District in the northwest, Yong'an Township in the south, SANZHIYANG Township and Longtou Township in Yizhou City in the north. The township has a total of 13 administrative villages (Banling, Hantang, Daihe, Fengtang, Shangyou, nongliu, Shangzhi, Shangfu, Yongle, Yongshun, Yongren, Yongfu, Yonghe, 13 village committees), a total of 354 villager groups, with a total population of 28499 in 2000 and 33845 at the end of 2003.
Culture and education
Banling township has always attached great importance to education. There are three middle schools under its jurisdiction. There are more than 1500 middle school students and more than 3800 primary school students. In recent years, more than 100 people have been admitted to various universities and technical secondary schools, and four have been admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University.
External transportation
Banling township has convenient transportation, 105 kilometers to Yizhou City, 56 kilometers to Jinchengjiang via SANZHIYANG township. The high-grade road from Shuiren to Nanning passes through Shangfu village for 4.7 km. Shangfu has become the first stop for Jinchengjiang River to enter Du'an, which has a good location advantage.
Agriculture and forestry industry
The township covers an area of 280.2 square kilometers, with 24756 mu of cultivated land, including 6093 mu of paddy field and 18663 mu of dry land. In 2002, the per capita net income of farmers was 1403 yuan, and the per capita grain was 238 kg. Forestry is the pillar industry of Banling Township, with an area of 11442.2 hectares and a forest coverage rate of 37.5%. There is a state-owned Banling farm with an area of 4500 mu, mainly planted with sand wood and Masson pine. There are collective forest farms in Banling village, Daihe village, nongliu village, Shangzhi village and Shangfu village, and there are five individual wood processing plants in the township.
Agricultural and mineral resources
There are certain reserves of mineral resources such as gold and phosphate in Banling Township, which has a certain mining prospect. Tea oil, bamboo shoots and sweet potato powder are the key products of Banling Township, and colorful pheasant is another new characteristic brand.
Water resources
Diaojiang river flows 48 kilometers through 9 administrative villages, such as Shangfu. It has unique hydraulic resources. Two hydropower stations, Yongle and heshangyou, have been built. Beice hydropower station started construction in November 2003, and Shangfu hydropower station has been built. Diaojiang water is crystal clear and suitable for all kinds of fish life. Diaojiang carp, eel and meat are extremely sweet, so they are very familiar. Along the banks of Diaojiang river, there is a bright future for developing Diaojiang eco-tourism.
